Original high quality animations by Luth Brodie. The most natural and realistic modeling poses in SL.
Established in 2004, Reel Expression is one of the oldest and still running shops specializing in modeling poses. With over 300 different sassy and chic Modeling Poses, Men’s Poses, Couple’s Poses, AO’s, and Furniture.
About a month after Linden Labs added animation uploads to SL in 2004, Reel Design began. My friend, Munchflower Zaius and I were sitting around talking about the lack of poses that we both liked. While I technically have a film degree, 2 years of that was actually studing 3d modeling and animations. While silly of me at the time now that I know all the major issues with uploading animations, I told her that I could make whatever she wanted.
Munchflower then sent me to a photography website and asked me to recreate the pictures there. At first I animated like crazy and made a bunch of mistakes trying to figure out all of the issues. The forums were a very large help, but there were some things that didn't seem to bother anyone else - like the hands going into fists when the default pose changed.
After a few weeks of making poses exclusively for Munchflower, I heard that an animation shop-Reverie - was holding a contest. After winning, I decided to set up a small shop in a mall owned by one of Munchflower's friends. If I remember correctly, it was the first such place on a private sim. Shortly after that, I added a second shop in Indigo sharing a space with Munchflower, Jennyfur Peregrine and others. Ever since then I've had some of my items in every version of the Nomine main store.
In the fall of 2004 I moved to London and stopped making poses for at least 6 months.
In fall of 2005, I ventured into moving animations and made the Lindy Hop. This took many months to animate all by hand and using a laptop. Shortly after releasing it, I found out that most other animators use motion capture with many downloading from various places around the net. The made me very discouraged and annoyed
In 2006, I teamed up with Szabo Horn and split the island of Leiko. Together we made the couple hammock that people still love to use (and yes... I will make more). We had planned on making many other cuddle items, but it didn't work out. However, I had already changed the name to Reel Movement which of course only made sense for a short while.
In the fall of 2006, I decided to make a go of full-time working in SL. I upped the production of pose making in the hopes of eventually getting some sort of notice other then my very loyal and regular customers. I started making the packs of poses based on themes - as far as I know this hadn't been done before. By some miracle, Willow Zander blogged about the first set - Arty. And then the massive snowball began.
2007 I purchased my island of Lalique and changed then name (yet again) to Reel Expression. It has been that way ever since.
